Sound Sailing

Charley Drake has spent a lifetime paying attention; to people, to craft, to the world around him. A jack of all trades and a mentor to many, he moves through life with curiosity, compassion, and care. Aboard his tugboat on the waters of the Puget Sound, accompanied by his dog Juliet, Drake’s unhurried presence invites us to slow down and notice the world around us.

The lessons that follow reflect what I’ve learned from Drake over time, through a mentorship that grew into friendship.

Pay attention to the details, but don't get so lost in them that you lose sight of the bigger picture.

There is always something new worth learning.

Develop more patience, persistence, and positivity.

Joyfully share your time, talents, and table with others.

Perfection is not the goal. That would be boring.
