Two Sisters Spring into Summer on Their Trampoline

The first few days of summer in Topeka, Kansas come with a soundtrack: screen doors slamming, crickets tuning up, and bouncy thumps from a nearby trampoline.

On this particular afternoon, the low hum of a neighborhood settling into golden hour moved two sisters to run for their backyard trampoline.

Older sister, Ahsianna, climbs up first and quickly kicks off her shoes before seeing her little sister, Brylee, waiting below for a lift. She reaches down, but her sister is too small to make the jump even with help. Hopping back down, Ahsianna scoops Brylee up and helps her scramble onto the mat.

Before joining her sister, Ahsianna pauses.

Hang on, I want to hang upside down!

She expertly loops her legs through the metal frame and flips her world on its head. For a few beats, she swings gently, shifting her gaze from the patchy grass to a sky framed by tree branches.

No one tells these sisters where to stand or how to smile. They move in and out of the frame the way kids do; unaware, unposed, and entirely themselves.

It’s moments like these we remember most with our families and friends: the joyful expressions exchanged while jumping on the trampoline together; the feeling of freedom before gravity takes over; the confidence and pride of nailing a front flip.

For families in Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City, and the surrounding areas, family sessions like this preserve more than just faces; they capture their joys of the season.
